Renting a bicycle is an excellent way to see the city and the villages in the surrounding area. There are plenty of Dai villages just a few kilometers outside the city.

Mountain bikes and town bikes can be rent for Y30 per day (Y400 or your passport is required for the deposit).

There are two bike shops, one is located at the top of Manting Lu, they also provide sketched maps. It's best to get here early or book the day before during the busier times as they sometimes run out of bikes.

The other bike shop is on Jingde Lu opposite the PSB. Both of these shops provide good quality and well maintained bikes.

The 'Banna College Hotel' on Xuanwei Dadao (near the 'Tropical Plant and Flower Garden') also has a few of the famous Chinese 'Flying Pigeon' bikes for rent. These are only really useful in town. Y20.
