There are many Chinese langauge schools that teach Mandarin to foreigners in China. The 'Sunshine Chinese School' offers the same services at a lower price, with many extra benefits and none of the drawbacks that you will find in large crowded cities like Beijing or Shanghai.

Located on the Mekong river near the borders of Myanmar and Laos, Jinghong is a small, sunny beautiful city with a diverse mix of people from different ethnic backgrounds.  Nearly all the streets are lined end to end with palm trees.  It is said one can meander from one end of the city to the other entirely in the shade.  The atmosphere and pace of life is laid back, and the people are very welcoming towards foreigners.  Air polllution is not an issue here.

All teachers are certified to teach Mandarin Chinese.  If students are interested, it is also possible to arrange to study some of the local minority languages.

 One price includes:

1)      one-on-one instruction for 4 hours per day, 5 days a week.

2)      Homestay with a local family 7 nights per week.

3)      Meals with the family (breakfast and dinner during the weekdays).

There are also optional weekend activities arranged by the school at reduced prices, such as overnight treks to nearby mountains, visits to local minority villiages, or boat rides on the Mekong river.
